AP Calculus Final Project

Your final exam is a project to be done in groups of two or three. It is to study a new topic and then teach it to the class. These are the topics from which you may choose:
  • integration by parts
  • integration by partial fractions
  • integration by trig substitution
  • integrals with powers of trig functions
  • arc length of a curve
  • surface area of a solid of revolution
  • force and work in calculus
  • partial differentiation
  • multiple integrals
  • polar coordinates in calculus
  • Taylor series
  • Euler’s method
  • improper integrals
  • hyperbolic functions

These topics will give you a feel for some of the BC topics or some of the other topics that you will encounter in a second or third calculus course in college.

Sign up for your first three choices of topic and rank your choice of teaching date here. Once everyone has signed up, the calendar will be available here.

These are the requirements for your final project:
  • 30 minutes presenting, teaching and question time
  • 10 minutes assessing your classmates with a quiz (better if it is paperless!)
  • a multimedia component (video, powerpoint, podcast, etc.)
  • blog post summarizing your topic

The grading rubric is available here. Note that your grade is also a reflection of your effort as an audience member.
